1408 Some longing

 

How much you might have

Done for me

My heart is longing

Expecting something more

 

This is not at all

Happening anew

I don’t know

The reason for this

 

This is not happening

To any other living being

In your

Creation

 

Even if that

Has happened

We don’t have

Any understanding about it

 

But somehow

This human life

Became a

Great trouble

 

And who is the

Reason for this

You or me

I cannot understand

 

How many question

Were asked

And however we

Lament about it

 

No one on this earth

Has ever received

A proper

Answer for this

 

At the same time

This question and

Lamentation is

Not going to end

 

There is no other

Alternative to this

Other than

Lamenting about it

 

Somehow thinking

About our right

To do

This

 

As I unload my

Heart burden to you

My longing will go

Once I think about you

Human life indeed is a painful one, however glorious might be our creation.  Though philosophy and theology tried their best to provide various kinds of answers, still I am not convinced that anyone received a convincing and final answer for this.  But the only consolation for a bhakta of the Lord is that we can pour down our heart to Him and go ahead in life in spite of the trials in life.

 

1408 ஏதோ ஒரு ஏக்கம்

 

எத்தனை நீயும்

செய்த போதிலும்

எதையோ எண்ணி

என்மனம் ஏங்குது

 

இதுவும் புதிதாய்

நடந்திட வில்லை

இதற்கான காரணம்

தெரியவும் இல்லை

 

உனது படைப்பில்

உள்ள உயிரினம்

எதற்கும் இதுபோல

நடப்பது இல்லை

 

அப்டியே அது

நடந்திருந்தாலும்

அதுபற்றி எமக்குப்

புரிதலும் இல்லை

 

ஆயினும் இந்த

மானிட வாழ்வு

ஆனது ஏனோ

மாபெரும் தொல்லை

 

ஆயினும் அதற்கு

காரணம் நீயா

நானா என்று

விளங்கவும் இல்லை

 

எத்தனை கேள்விகள்

கேட்ட போதிலும்

எப்படிப் புலம்பி

கதறிய போதிலும்

 

தக்க விடையை

தரணியில் இதுவரை

பெற்றவர் என்று

ஒருவரும் இல்லை

 

ஆயினும் இந்த

கேள்வியும் புலம்புலும்

என்றும் ஓய்ந்திடப்

போவதும் இல்லை

 

அழுது புலம்பித்

தீர்ப்பது அன்றி

வேறு இதற்கு

மாற்றும் இல்லை

 

என்னவோ இதனைச்

செய்திட எமக்கு

உள்ள உரிமை

தன்னையே எண்ணி

 

இதயத்தின் பாரத்தை

உன்னிடம் இறக்க

ஏக்கம் போகும்

நானுனை நினைக்க

1407 What is the reason

 

When troubles and miseries

Come in my life

I lament

Seeking you

 

But when everything

Goes well

Why I often

Forgot you?

 

When things are

Going well

Many will come

To take part in it

 

Thinking that

Their fellowship is permanent

It is quite natural for me

To forget you

 

Though others might come

To encourage us

When troubles and

Trials come in my life

 

If we began to

Share our burden with them

Once they will

Escape from us

 

Lamenting alone

And without anyone

To accompany me

And without having any more strength

 

That time

Seeking your comfort

I definitely

Come unto you

 

Though others might say that

This is nothing but selfishness

And though there is

Some truth in it

 

How this nature

Has come within me

Who has to give

Answer for this

 

Is this a nature

With which I born, I don’t know

Or this is the way

I was brought up, I cannot understand

 

But this is the

Reality in life

And this is a common

Nature for all

 

But I know

One thing to do

I came unto you

Only to tell about it

 

If I confess

The reality as it is

I know for sure that

I will get some remedy for that

 

Trials and troubles are

One way good

As they push me

More towards you

 

When I suffer

With too much troubles

Your grace comes

Seeking after me

 

When this

Blessing is there

Why should I lament

Seeing this nature in me

 

So, troubles and trials

That brings your fellowship

Closer to me

Are good indeed in life

As I was reflecting about my nature [common to many] about remembering God only in my struggle and forgetting when things go well in life I wrote this song.  But this theme is common in most of the bhakti tradition also as we found also in Muktiveda.  If trials and affliction bring me close to the Lord I need not be troubled too much by them.

 

1407 காரணம் யாது

 

துன்பமும் துயரமும்

வந்திடும் போது

தேடியே வந்து

புலம்பிடும் போது

 

நன்மைகள் பலவும்

நடந்திடும் போது

நானுனை மறப்பதின்

காரணம் யாது

 

நன்மைகள் பலவும்

நடந்திடும் போது

நாலூபேர் வருவார்

பங்கிட்டுக் கொள்ள

 

அவர்தரும் உறவு

சதமென நினைந்து

உன்னை மறப்பது

இயல்பான ஒன்று

 

துன்பமும் துயரும்

வந்திடும் நேரம்

தேடியே வந்து

தேறுதல் கூறினும்

 

அதிலே பங்கு

நாமுமே வைத்தால்

அவரும் நழுவிச்

சென்றிட்ட பின்னே

 

தனித்துப் புலம்பிடத்

தெம்புமே இல்லாமல்

துணைக்கு எவரும்

கூட வராமல்

 

அந்நேரம் உனது

ஆறுதல் தேடி

உன்னிடம் வருவது

நிச்சயம் உண்டு

 

சுயநலம் இதுவென

எவர் சொன்னாலும்

சொல்வதும் உண்மை

என ஆனாலும்

 

இந்த இயல்பும்

எப்படி வந்தது

எவர்தான் பதிலும்

இதற்குத் தருவது

 

பிறவிக் குணமா

புரிந்திட வில்லை

வளர்ந்த விதமா

தெரிந்திட வில்லை

 

ஆனால் இதுவே

வாழ்வில் உண்மை

அனைவர்க்கு உள்ள

பொதுவான தன்மை

 

ஆனால் ஒன்றை

நானும் அறிவேன்

அதைத்தான் சொல்ல

உன்னிடம் வந்தேன்

 

உள்ளதை உன்னிடம்

நானும் சொல்லிட

தீர்வு கிடைக்கும்

என்பதை அறிவேன்

 

துன்பமும் துயரும்

ஒருவிதம் நல்லது

நெருக்கி அவையும்

உன்னிடம் தள்ளுது

 

பாட்டுகள் பலவும்

பட்டிடும் போது

உன்னருள் என்னை

தேடியே வருகுது

 

இந்த நன்மை

இருந்திடும் போது

நான்யேன் புலம்பனும்

இக்குணம் கண்டு

 

உனது உறவை

கொண்டு வந்திடும்

துன்பம் துயரம்

மிகமிக நல்லது
